Alcatel has been working on releasing a number of devices this year. We saw the Alcatel 3 and Alcatel 5 smartphones announced back in February. Following that, we then saw the Alcatel 3V, which is effectively an upgraded version of that particular smartphone. Now, we’re getting to see the Alcatel 5V, a smartphone with a 6.2-inch notched display, 4,000 mAh battery, and Android 8.1 Oreo.
The Alcatel 5V offers up a number of features that are unique to a budget smartphone, and it aims for a premium experience at a lower price tag. The 6.2-inch 19:9 FullView screen features a screen to body ratio of 88%, and that’s thanks to the notch that’s present.
With that display, you also get an AI-powered dual camera setup on the back. Comprised of a 12MP sensor and a secondary 2MP sensor, you can take bokeh shots if you like. An 8MP selfie camera is also present. The camera itself can detect up to 11 different scenes and adjust the camera’s settings to take the most optimal photograph. Those settings include changing the contrast, saturation, brightness, sharpness, and resolution. There’s even Google Lens integration in the stock camera, so that means Alcatel is one of the companies that Google has been working with. Google Lens is an Artificial Intelligence-powered item identification program. The Alcatel 5V also offers both face unlock and fingerprint unlock, and according to the company, face unlock can unlock your smartphone in 0.5 seconds.
The Alcatel 5V doesn’t have any confirmed markets yet, but it’s launching with a price tag of $199.99. Powered by an MT6762 processor and 3GB of RAM, it’s certainly not a terrible smartphone. What’s more, it’s got a pretty big battery, which should easily last you a day with the lower powered processor. You can check out all of its specifications below.
