There’s been some talk about the next Android smartphone from BlackBerry with the codename Vienna, and we might be looking at it right now. A tip was sent into CrackBerry and they are confident enough in the source to publish it. From the looks of it, BlackBerry will not be giving up their traditional QWERTY keyboard anytime soon.
It may have taken HTC a little too long to release the kernel source code for the Desire 626s, but they are on the ball with the One A9. The Taiwanese handset maker has just release the code on their HTCdev website for a handful of variants including Germany, Spain, Turkey and a couple of others (no US models yet though).
Google has just announced that Android Wear now supports cellular connectivity. Your smartwatch (the LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition LTE supports it) will automatically switch to cellular when it is out of range of Bluetooth for your smartphone and WiFi networks. With this feature, users will finally be able to leave their smartphone behind when running an errand or going out for a run.
Google introduced Nexus Protect with the Nexus 5X and the Nexus 6P this year and it pretty well received. Those of us in the United States were excited about the service because, in typical Google fashion, it was launched exclusively in the US. This changes today as the Mountain View tech giant has just announced that Nexus Protect is now available in Canada.
At Computex 2015, Acer showed off the Predator 8 Android tablet that is targeted specifically at mobile gamers. The $299.99 8-inch tablet is finally available for pre-order and it comes with with a 1080p LCD display, an Intel Atom x7-Z8700 Cherry Trail SoC, 2GB of LPDDR3 RAM, 32GB of storage, a 4,550 mAh capacity battery, Android Lollipop out of the box, and four external speakers in its corners.
