Do you remember the Sony Xperia F8831, the Sony flagship device that looked like a design refresh? Not much has been made known about that device, and we’re still waiting on receiving more information regards the same. But it seems Sony has more in store for us.
Enter the Sony Xperia X Compact.
Leaked by Evan Blass, the image shows us that Sony has been working on a new small phone that will pick up the mantle in the Compact series. The Compact lineup has the philosophy of packing in decent internals in a pocketable form factor. The Xperia Z5 Compact was often touted as one of the best choices in the smaller side of flagships, seeing that this space has seen very little competition in recent times. Other OEMs do put out flagships, but none of them compete at the smaller screen size, thus giving the Compact lineup some good traction.
Regarding the Xperia X Compact, the image shows us that the device does have a sizeable chin on the bottom. But on the plus side, there does seem to be a speaker on the bottom chin in addition to the one on the top. The buttons on the side may appear confusing, but they seem to be at par with the Xperia Z5 Compact — the bottom button is the camera shutter, the longer button is the volume rocker and not immediately visible would be the power button (which also housed the fingerprint sensor).
As of now, it is difficult to ascertain if the phone will pick on the new design language of Sony, or continue on with the Xperia X lineup’s design. Sony’s decision to stick with a HD display also irked a few, so maybe this could bump up the resolution to FHD. We hope for more information to flow for the Xperia X Compact.
